Yesterday I visited Olympiapark in Munich. It was constructed for the 1972 Summer Olympics and is located near BMW welt in the north of Munich. The park is designed by landscape architect Günther Grzimek. The park is famous for its structure that covers parts of the park and stadiums, which was designed by Frei Otto with Günter Behnisch (whose office I visited during an architectural study trip to Stuttgart).
The Olympiastadion is situated at the heart of the park and is covered by the same net-like structure that winds through the landscape. When climbing the Olympiaberg, one gets a beautiful panorama view on the Olympiapark and on the citycenter of Munich.
The park is worth a visit when you are in the neighborhood, especially when you are fond of (landschape) architecture!
